An evocation of the page.
Un gris typographique
like representations of manuscripts in classical painting.
Grids and resultant moirés float on the warp and weft of the canvas itself,
as on days and bygone years spent in printshop darkrooms,
shooting halftones and duotones through the unfurled bellows
of a six-foot horizontal nuArc® process camera.
Not much of a stretch for the moiré to evoke acoustical phasing.
The interference of wave patterns.
White noise through an air vent.
Then the interference of images, printed
as commentary on and onto the abstract canvas.
A didactic spot drawing pointing and asking,

Commentary positioned as footnote.
As Icarus’ feet are painted by Brueghel,
And laid out on the page by Williams and Auden.

comme les représentations de manuscrits dans la peinture classique.
Les grilles et moirés apparaissent ainsi sur la toile,
flottant sur le tissage et la trame,
évoquant les jours et les années passées dans la chambre noire d’une imprimerie,
à tirer similigravures et bichromies à travers le soufflet déployé d’un banc de repro horizontal nuArc®.
Moirée comme la phase acoustique.
L'interférence des ondes.
Le vent, bruit blanc, à travers une bouche d'aération.
Puis l'interférence des images imprimées
comme commentaire sur la toile abstraite.
Un dessin didactique dans la marge qui demande
"Que représentez-vous?"
Commentaire positionné comme note en bas de page.
Comme les pieds d'Icare peints par Brueghel,
Puis mis en page par Williams et Auden.
